An exercise in speculative design pushed forward by the curiosity in the future of mental health care.
To start: I was given a form that I did not make, and thought about the possibilities of such a shape. How could it be used to better some one's experience?
The shape demanded a certain sense of whimsy, so I played around with foods and colors.
The unicorn horn as a communication device struck me as an interesting concept. Around this time I had a lengthy conversation with a close friend about the difficulty of self monitoring your mind while experiencing depression, anxiety, and the shifting medications used to treat these issues. Accurate self monitoring is the fastest road to recovery in these circumstances.
Through some research I began to scratch the surface of brain chemistry and the hormones medications target to reach desired results. What if you could control this and measure these live? The device could administer medication when it was needed.
Unicorn would come in 2 pieces. One attached to the head reads various chemicals and administers medication. The other is a necklace worn to observe the world as the user does and projects the AR recap.
This data could also be used to inform the user about their own cemetery in regards to their goals and experiences throughout the day. Maybe they could even set their own goals in this AR experience.
